Football Goal

Strategy 2024-28

We are proud to share our strategy for the next four seasons, inspiring positive change through football by uniting communities, creating opportunities and improving health and wellbeing

Hertfordshire FA has launched an ambitious new Strategy for Grassroots Football in our county that aims to deliver The FA’s goal of a thriving game that is played in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.

This strategy sets out how over the next four years we will work to ensure that football in Hertfordshire will promote positive wider societal change and maximise the impact the game can have on peoples lives.

It provides a clear direction for our organisation and sets out how we intend to support and develop the game for the benefit of everyone in Hertfordshire, with five key strategic priorities:

  • Improve Playing Choice and Opportunities
  • Deliver Equal Opportunities for Women and Girls to Play
  • Build More and Improve Existing Facilities
  • Tackle Poor Behaviour
  • Develop a Valued Network of Volunteers, Coaches and Referees

Our strategic priorities underpin all of our activities and outline the key measures that we are striving to achieve over this period. These will be supported by our three key strategic drivers:

  • Support Thriving Community Clubs
  • Connect and Serve Participants
  • Progress the Game’s Governance

The scale and influence of grassroots football means it is uniquely positioned to change lives for the better, bringing people together, creating opportunities and improving the health and wellbeing of those involved.

We hope that this strategy will provide clarity for all those that we work with, both within the game and outside of it, about what it is that we want to do, how we intend to do it and the impact that our efforts will have on our communities.

On the launch of the new strategy, Hertfordshire FA CEO Karl Lingham said:

"We are extremely proud of the positive impact the game has in our communities and the responsibility this places on us to nurture it. Together we can build a bigger, stronger and more inclusive game for everyone to enjoy".
