Junior Coach Award
A First Step for Aspiring Young Coaches
WANT TO GET A FIRST TASTE OF COACHING?
The Junior Coach Award from Hertfordshire FA is designed for young people age 12-16 who are interested in becoming a football coach
We know that many young people involved in grassroots football are keen to get into coaching and help others develop a love of the game. Featuring 4 hours of face to face learning, this practical course is a great place for them to start. It also serves as as an optional precursor to the online learning offered by England Football - the EE Playmaker (which is available from age 14) and the Introduction to Coaching Football (for those 16 and over).
The award showcases fun and engaging arrival activities which junior coaches could deliver themselves in sessions, along with creating their own by working with other course participants. The course also covers what a 'good' coach looks like, allowing participants to identify their own positive attributes. Lastly, junior coaches will look to practice giving players individual challenges in a small sided game/match scenario.
We will be offering these courses regularly throughout the year, usually during school holidays. If your child wants to get a taste of coaching to help them on the path to becoming a volunteer in grassroots football, look for upcoming dates below.
If none are currently available to book and you would like to be contacted when new dates are added, please complete the Expression of Interest Form.

Supporting Young People in Football
If we are to build a bright future for football in our county, we need to ensure the voice of young players, coaches, referees and volunteers are heard. At Hertfordshire FA we are committed to helping children have the best possible experience in football.
To help with this we have pulled together a range of information, guidance and resources for young people, along with a survey you can complete to tell us what you think about the game.
