Flexible Football Leagues Return
Flexible Football recognises that people love the traditional game but want a version that suits their lifestyle
Hertfordshire FA flexible football is expanding, running three pilot leagues across the County.
What is Flexible Football?
The Flexible Football Leagues will take place at one of three central venues on a floodlit, artificial pitches. It will involve teams playing games of a 48 minute duration (24 minutes each-way), and will feature repeat substitutions. Leagues of 6- 8 teams will play weekly, all fixtures will be played on the following evenings between 7-10pm with the whole competition completed within 14 weeks of fixtures. Leagues that cater for teams aged 16-21, may use four over aged players.
The leagues will begin week commencing Monday 3 June and ending week commencing Monday 12 August.
League | Day | Time | Format | Duration | Age |
Wodson Park, Ware | Tuesday | 7-10pm | 9v9 | 48 minutes | 16-21 |
Roundwood Park, Harpenden | Wednesday | 7-10pm | 9v9 | 48 minutes | 16-21 |
Ashlyn's School, Berkhamsted | Thursday | 7-9pm | 11v11 | 48 minutes | Open age |
With the league using online technology, team administration is being kept as simple as possible allowing team managers to focus on recruiting and fielding a team. It is the job of the League Administrator to handle fixtures, collate results, publish league tables, pay match officials, and administer standard discipline offences and team affiliation.
Flexible Football is however not just a ‘kick about’ - It should be proper organised football - teams are affiliated to the CFA, players are registered and an effective disciplinary process is in operation. When players turn up they should see a high quality pitch and floodlights, FA qualified Referees, and a competition that is well run and enjoyable.
