Play Safe Weekend 2024

Play Safe Weekend 2024

Clubs can order resources now to be ready to show their support on 28-29 September

The FA-led national safeguarding campaign lasts all year – but its highlight is the annual Play Safe Weekend, which this year will be on 28-29 September

This is when the whole of football in England – from the professional game to the grassroots, and every level in between – joins forces to promote awareness of the importance of safeguarding across the game we all love.

The Play Safe weekend is endorsed by leading children’s charity the NSPCC and will see a range of activity across the nation.

The central push behind this year’s Play Safe Weekend is to create awareness among individuals right across football of the vital role they can play in safeguarding. It really is all of our responsibility, Everyone, Everywhere, Every Time.

Whether you’re a parent or carer, committee member, coach, player, referee, spectator or a safeguarding lead, you can find out more about how you can your part in protecting young people by visiting the Play Safe page on the England Football website.

Show Your Club's Support with Badges and Armbands

To give Play Safe visibility, all grassroots clubs are being provided with free captains armbands, along with Play Safe badges for coaches. In addition, clubs can purchase Play Safe-branded pitch-side banners to show their support.

Be aware these items are not being distributed by County FAs this year. To receive them clubs will need to order via the portal below.

ORDER RESOURCES FOR YOUR CLUB

In addition, County FAs, as well as leagues and clubs at every level, are being provided with digital and print assets. A specially-commissioned Play Safe film will be provided for County FAs, leagues and clubs to link to via their websites and social media.

“Then it’s over to everyone to decide how they want to showcase their safeguarding work,” says Sue Ravenlaw, Head of Safeguarding at The FA. “There were some great examples last year which reached three million people – we’re aiming for more this year.”
