Supporting a Greener Game
The Greener Game aims to help community clubs thrive by becoming more sustainable
We know that rising energy bills in recent years have hit grassroots clubs hard. The new Greener Game programme aims to encourage clubs to find out how they can reduce their energy use, freeing up funds to spend on what matters most to them - making football happen in their communities.
The FA and E.ON Next are partnering to support grassroots clubs wanting to reduce their energy needs, cut their bills and minimise their environmental impact. Starting today, all Accredited Clubs can sign up, giving them access to an Energy Support Pack filled with advice and guidance that empowers them to make positive changes.
During the five-year programme, there will also be regular opportunities for Accredited Clubs to apply for free energy audits, delivered by E.ON Next. Following the energy audit process, club needs will be evaluated and those who meet the criteria will receive investment, which may include the installation of sustainable energy solutions.
On the launch of The Greener Game, Karl Lingham, Hertfordshire FA CEO said:
"At Hertfordshire FA we are committed to creating a sustainable future for the sport we love. As well as making changes to reduce the environmental impact of our own operations, we are also keen to support others across the game who want to do the same.
This new programme from The FA and E.ON has already seen impressive results with pilot clubs around the country and we look forward to seeing how clubs in Hertfordshire can benefit from the advice and investment available through The Greener Game".
