St Albans City Youth FC have won the Hertfordshire FA Girls U14 Challenge Cup Final after clinching victory against Hatfield Town Youth FC at the County Ground.

Goals from Mathilda Finburgh, Jess Simpson, Mia Pickham , Katie Holder & Anna Gifford saw the St Albans side claim the Cup in a 6-2 tie against fellow HGFPL side, Hatfield Town Youth.

The St Albans Side started at an electric pace, taking a 4-0 lead in a first half full of fat tempo football and clinical finishing.

In the 10^th minute Mathilda Finburgh’s scored a beautiful goal from 20 yards taking before team-mate Jess Simpson doubled her team’s lead 4 minutes later with a blinding strike into the back of the net.

Almost immediately Mia Pickham scored after a tense goalmouth scramble to make it 3-0 to St Albans City Youth before half time!

City Youth then sealed the end to a dramatic opening period of football as Katie Holder fizzed a 20 yard past the keeper to make it 4-0 before the half time whistle.

Hatfield Town FC youth came out in the second half looking for a way back into the game and pulled one back from City Youth FC's early lead in the 43^rd minute.

Rachel Wall collected the ball before taking a brave shot and finding the back of the net for Hatfield to make it 4-1.

St Albans would restore their 4 goal advantage 5 minutes later though as Laura Gifford scored with a smart left foot drive from the edge of the box for City Youth

Hatfield showed great character throughout the Cup final and Rachel Wall pulled another goal back for Hatfield in the last 10 minutes, scoring with a superb shot to make it 5-2.

It was St Albans that would have the last say though as they made it 6-2 in the dying minutes of the game to seal the Hertfordshire FA Girls U14 Challenge Cup Final.
